Challenges

DSC_4280Every couple of months, I try to discover a new area of photography that I want to grow and learn more about. In October, 2007, I sought to discover black & white photography. I wanted to understand it more and grow in my own eye for seeing the good B&W shot. So I committed to shooting only B&W all month long. I blogged about it here, and quickly discovered that the concept of focusing on one thing for a whole month resonated with many of my readers. I even had a few commit to shoot only one photographic topic themselves. At the end of October I had grown some and learned a lot. I genuinely feel that my work done in October helped train and educate me.

Alternate December Challenge #1

So after some more thought, I decided that I wanted to learn even more. I liked to format of committing to one thing for a month. I knew that portraiture is a weakness of mine, so I set out to tackle another topic. For the month of December, 2007, I committed to shoot a portrait a day. One each day, for each day of the month.

Since launching the October and December Challenges, I’ve seen a huge interest. So I launched a special location, just for the community to interact.
