This is where I whine, declare, and surmise.

Let them die!

8 September, 2008 (07:00) | politics, quicky, world-view | By: trevor

I just wanted to weigh in on the current state of affairs, as it pertains to our financial institutions reaping what they’ve sown. You can probably guess the remaining content. I am quite satisfied with the death of a bank who offered loans to customers who could not afford them. Today we’re hearing all about the US government “seizing” up FreddieMac and FannieMae. Let them die!

Look, you have these people applying for loans, for homes then can’t afford. PEOPLE SHOULD STOP LIVING OUTSIDE THEIR MEANS! Of course these banks are offering the loans, and approving them. Ahhhh! Let them die!

Now, we’re seeing the US government step in, and bail them all out. Insanity! Adam Smith figured this all out, over 200 years ago. Let them die!

****Update****

I must add, the abandonment of capitalism, in the mortgage finance industry is appaulling to those freedom-loving Americans who embrace consequences for failed businesses and rewards for those who succeed. When was the last time you saw a government state do anything more effectively and/or efficiently than the private sector? Post office? DMV?

I see the abandonment of capitalism in Bush’s nationalizaion of Freddie & Fannie. Very sad, very sad.

I think I’ll celebrate with a new 45!

Smith & Wesson M&P 40C

I woke to a fire hydrant of news about the US Supreme Court’s ruling on the 2nd Amendment case before them. You have no idea how excited I became as I read the reports coming in stating the renewed clarity about our continued rights.

In case you didn’t know, the Supreme Court has never clearly ruled on the basic reality that we, as individuals, have the right to purchase, own, and possess firearms. Back in the 70’s the city of Washington, DC passed a law that forbade the ownership of handguns, and increased the limitations on rifles and shotguns. Their reasoning was to help fight crime on the streets. Recently, an armed security guard wanted to purchase and possess a handgun, for personal protection. The city denied his request, and he sued.

The case made its way to the top court, and they ruled today. Yippy!

Now if they’d just enforce existing laws, and quit pandering to the dirt-bag criminals, maybe we’d see a drop in crime.

Digg it!

Why was Martin Luther martyred?

13 October, 2007 (18:55) | Trevor, announcement, current events, help, liberalism, news, opinion, theology, truth, world-view | By: trevor

First off, let me start with a clear proclamation…

I am not interested in offending anyone who is not a Christian.

However, having no other more appropriate podium to announce my concerns, I will venture into an area of theological debate that will cause many to become polarized.

Over the last several years, I have observed an increasing trend within the Church that causes me great concern. Early on, I stood by and watched churches embrace a modern marketing approach to managing their church. An approach that placed marketing surveys and trendy schemes over teaching the Word of God. Many of these churches are simply emulating the numerical and financial success of a small number of massive churches. An important note to observe would be that no where has anyone observed tremendous life change or transformation, just a lot of people “praying the prayer” and giving their cash.

Then I began to witness as many of these churches and many more begin to take the post-modern mantra into their elder meetings. The embracing of an attitude of rebellion began to permeate their whole church, manifesting itself in as many ways as possible. This movement decided that they were emerging from something that needed to be emerged from. The most concerning acts I’ve seen here are the embracing of practices that have traditionally been considered hertical and pagan. The two most scary influences seem to have been the meditative approach of the Hindus (eastern religion) and what was once considered Christianity, the Roman Catholic church.

Now, catholics, I’m really not trying to attack you here. What I am saying is that if modern day Protestant Christianity agrees that the Reformation was necessary, then we must come to a place of nonagreement over what is Christiandom.

So, if what Martin Luther had to say was relevant, then Protestant Evangelical Reformed Christianity must NOT accept the teachings of any catholic after the Reformation. And if anything close to Christianity wants to admit that the Bible is THE Word of God, then nothing the East has to offer should even be allowed on our Tivos.

Here’s a couple of real men of God sharing their perspective:

So, you can take your yoga, contemplative prayer, secret prayer closets, and your ex-catholic monks and take a hike.

Me? I’ll be over here, reading the Word of God.

“But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.” 2 Peter 2:1

“For nothing is hidden except to be made manifest; nor is anything secret except to come to light.” Mark 4:22

“Yet in like manner these people also, relying on their dreams, defile the flesh, reject authority, and blaspheme the glorious ones.” Jude 1:8

Launch a News Magazine?

28 July, 2007 (05:40) | Internet, New Media, Pop-culture, current events, news, politics, world-view | By: trevor

You know what they say about opinions, right? Well, mine are strong and I want to share them. I really enjoy blogging and I’d like to continue my growth with the medium so I’m thinking about launching a news oriented online magazine. What do you think? I think something that focuses on the top news stories and current events, with a little commentary might be good. However, trying to cover the world or our country might be biting off more than I can chew. So, once we get moved, I think I’ll try to use this as an opportunity to learn more about the Pacific Northwest.

Most of the opinion blogs, especially the politically oriented kind, tend to be one-sided. And, well, that would be my tendency too, but that’s been done already. Whether you like them or not, those programs with two talking heads, like Hannity & Colmes, really do have strong viewership. There’s no reason why I couldn’t strive to put together a balanced team of contributors.

I went ahead and purchased, NorthwestFreePress.com, in the anticipation that I may do this. So, are you in the Pacific Northwest? Are you interested in joining a team of diverse thinkers who want to chew up and spit out their opinions on everything that’s current? Comment away, or email me. (See the sidebar for my email.)

Why is the right afraid of the ‘net?

27 July, 2007 (14:06) | Internet, New Media, Pop-culture, current events, news, politics, world-view | By: trevor

Jeff Jarvis, at BuzzMachine, wrote a good post today.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m pretty conservative, politically. In fact, I’m more conservative than most of the main stream Republicans. I’m not going to bullet point list out my views on the issues, I just wanted to get that clear.

So, now, let me point out that my party seems to be running in fear of the internet. I read and follow many political and technology oriented blogs. Others too, but those are pertinent to this post.

I can’t tell you how much I’ve read and heard lately that demonstrated how each of the top liberal candidates for president are using the internet and its tools to communicate with supporters, potential voters, and the media. Yes, the Edwards camp had their fiasco with their bloggers early on, but at least they had bloggers on staff who were doing something! Does McCain have any staff bloggers? Guliani? Romney?

In fact, I think Ron Paul is the only one who knows that the internet isn’t just for porn addicts and 14 year old pimple faced nerds.

Ron Paul has a Facebook page. Ron Paul sat down, townhall style, at the Googleplex recently. Ron Paul is posting YouTube video on his presidential campaign page. I like Ron Paul.

I can’t say that I agree with each of Ron Paul’s opinions. However, he is taking a stand on some of the important ones. And to top it off, Ron Paul has created a mighty stir with the techo-leftists of Silicon Valley. And since, they’re the ones developing most of the internet, that may come back to be a blessing no one saw coming.

So, GOP, “Why are you afraid of the internet?”
