The word on the street is that photowalking is the new hip thing. Just ask the kids.

Just over a month ago, I set up my very first photowalk. Not only was it the first photowalk that I organized, it was the first one I attended. I think my rookie-ness showed, since I was also the only one who showed up. No problem though, I had a great, quiet time. I roamed the Santa Barbara Mission at my own pace. It was a lot of fun.

Fast forward to today. It’s time to do another one. “Why?”, you ask. Because I got a new camera! Yup! My new Nikon D40 should be at my home when I return tonight. I can’t wait.

Anyway, if you’re interested in hanging out with like-minded photography obsessed people, then consider joining me at the Carpinteria State Beach on Saturday, March 31, 2007. At this point we’ll plan on meeting at 12 noon. When the day comes closer, I’ll clarify the time so that we’re there at low tide.

The tide pools are a great place to visit and scramble around. Feel free to bring your children, if you have any, and expect a lot of learning to occur. Because it’s in the state beach, there’s always a State Park Ranger or volunteer around to help you learn a little bit more than you expected.

Be aware that if you drive into the State Beach, you’ll have to pay $8 to park. If you bring children, then this option is one you should consider. If you walk in, you’re free!

Parking in downtown Carpinteria is a great option. It is a wonderful destination for food and shopping. I may just plan on a family meal before or after we “shoot”.

I also recommend that you come prepared to get your feet wet. The last time I was at the tide pools it was much warmer, and I wore my Teva’s. If you have some short waders or good Wellinton Boots, then I’d suggest you wear them.
